Job Overview:
The Communication and Design Analyst position is situated within the UNDP Crisis Bureau’s Research, Analysis, Learning, and Innovation (RALI) Team. This role is pivotal in enhancing UNDP's capabilities in risk management across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) nexus. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating communications for the Crisis Academy, which is a core initiative aimed at building a comprehensive knowledge and learning ecosystem. The Academy focuses on equipping stakeholders with the necessary skills to respond effectively to complex crises. The position requires a blend of technical communication skills, creativity in design, and the ability to engage with diverse audiences through various platforms. The role also involves managing website content, social media engagement, and supporting events, all aimed at promoting the Academy's objectives and enhancing visibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication and Design Analyst will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Coordinating and supporting communications for the Crisis Academy by providing technical advice and implementing communication activities in alignment with the Crisis Bureau's objectives.
  • Guiding branding design and graphic content development, ensuring consistency with corporate visual identity, and creating communication materials such as infographics and posters.
  • Managing website content and social media engagement, curating multimedia content, and preparing presentation materials.
  • Supporting CA events by providing communications advice and assistance. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization, ensuring that all communication efforts align with the Academy’s strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, Advertising, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience will be considered in lieu of a master’s degree. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or advertising is required for those with a master’s degree, while 4 years is required for those with a bachelor’s degree. Candidates should also have experience in marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing and social media management, graphic design, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 and design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s degree) in relevant fields such as Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or Advertising. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in these areas, combined with additional qualifying work experience, will also be considered. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and the nuances of public relations within the context of crisis management and development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience for candidates with a master’s degree, or 4 years for those with a bachelor’s degree. This experience should be in communications, public relations, journalism, or advertising, with a strong emphasis on digital marketing and social media management. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record in graphic design and the ability to manage communication strategies effectively. Experience working within the UN or UNDP system is highly desirable, as it provides valuable insights into the organization's operations and communication needs.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in other UN languages, particularly Spanish and French, is considered an asset. This linguistic capability is crucial for engaging with diverse stakeholders and ensuring effective communication across various platforms and contexts.
