Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's programmatic and advocacy work focused on violence prevention and response in Rio de Janeiro. This position is particularly significant given the alarming rates of violence affecting children in the region. The consultant will work closely with various teams within UNICEF Brazil, particularly the Child Protection Chief and Team, to deliver results aligned with the BCO 2025 Annual Work Plan. The consultant's responsibilities will include revising and providing feedback on studies related to armed violence and education, facilitating meetings with civil society partners, and supporting ongoing dialogue regarding child rights protection. Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for several key deliverables over the course of the contract. These include:
  • Revising and providing comments on the implementing partner study regarding armed violence and its impact on child education, which involves reviewing reports, sharing findings with internal counterparts, and organizing meetings with partners to discuss feedback.
  • Supporting UNICEF's dialogue with local civil society partners to define joint advocacy activities for child rights protection, which includes defining meeting scopes, organizing invitations, facilitating discussions, and preparing reports with recommendations for next steps.
  • Assisting in UNICEF's social behavior change work around corporal punishment by reviewing reports, providing technical comments, and contributing to strategy development for broader implementation.
  • Organizing and facilitating at least four meetings with local committee members focused on the Protected Hearing law, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive meeting reports that outline next steps and assistance for child victims.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in fields such as Law, Social Sciences, Human Rights, or related areas. Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as Law, Social Sciences, Human Rights, or related areas.
