Job Overview: The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Europe Office director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director and will collaborate with the entire team. The position is designed to support the Director and Deputy Director’s Office in various tasks, including research on development cooperation policies, assisting in resource mobilization efforts, and monitoring partnerships with the private sector and youth movements. The intern will also attend relevant meetings and conferences in Geneva, undertake legal research and analysis, and assist the Deputy Director as necessary. This role is crucial for gaining practical experience in international environmental governance and policy-making, as well as understanding the operational dynamics of a major international organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting research on individual countries’ development cooperation policies and priorities, assisting in identifying and mapping key development cooperation initiatives linked to environmental sustainability, and supporting resource mobilization efforts towards European Member States, private sector, and foundations by drafting targeted project proposals. Additionally, the intern will monitor private sector partnerships, follow up on partnership development with youth movements, attend meetings and conferences relevant to UN Environment in Geneva, undertake legal research and analysis, and assist the Deputy Director as necessary. This comprehensive set of responsibilities will provide the intern with a well-rounded experience in environmental policy and international relations.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree. While professional work experience is not required for the UN internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential.
