The organization aims to ensure that all employees can thrive professionally while working towards harnessing the full potential of migration. IOM's workplace culture emphasizes respect for diversity, integrity, professionalism, and empathy, fostering an inclusive environment for all staff members.

Job Overview:

Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should possess less than two years of relevant working experience. The program aims to provide practical experience in the field of migration, allowing interns to contribute to IOM's mission while gaining valuable skills and insights into the workings of an international organization. Interns will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Senior Programme Support Assistant, collaborating closely with various teams to enhance the Country Office's digital presence through social media, content creation, and graphic design. The role involves producing audio-visual materials, maintaining the Country Office website, and engaging with the community through innovative communication strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including assisting in the production of digital content for social media platforms, creating infographics, and developing audio-visual materials that promote IOM's work. They will contribute to the maintenance and upgrading of the Country Office website, build and consolidate the social media presence on platforms such as X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and monitor website traffic and audience engagement. Additionally, interns will support the writing and editing of press releases and digital stories, design communication materials for distribution, and assist in planning and organizing events. Other duties may be assigned as needed, ensuring that interns gain a comprehensive understanding of IOM's operations and communication strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong theoretical and practical background in digital media and design software, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro). Proven experience in graphic production and knowledge of printing processes are essential. Interns should possess excellent research, writing, communication, and analytical skills, along with a solid understanding of migration, development, and humanitarian issues. The ability to produce quality work accurately and consistently within deadlines is crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Interns should have a background in Information and Communication Technology, Communication, Media Studies, or other relevant Social Sciences from an accredited academic institution. Candidates must either be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated within the last 12 months.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in designing compelling visuals for publications and social media, including infographics. Interns should have a proven track record of producing quality work and managing projects from conception to completion, demonstrating their ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a team environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language used within IOM. Proficiency in Norwegian is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication within the local context. Additionally, knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is beneficial but not required.

Additional Notes:
The internship is subject to funding confirmation and will require certification of medical fitness for appointment, as well as verification of residency and visa requirements where applicable. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial remuneration or credits from their university or sponsoring body will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan for the duration of the internship, but interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including discrimination and harassment. The organization does not charge any fees during the recruitment process and only accepts applications submitted through the IOM online recruitment system.
