Job Overview: The internship at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience in an international organization. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the Director General's Office and the Office for Public Information and Communication, gaining insights into the operations of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will support the daily production of the Internal News Review by scanning online resources for news items related to the IAEA and compiling these into a package for the Director General. This includes monitoring multilingual news under time pressure to meet delivery deadlines. Interns will also provide special news packages upon request, undertake research, and assist in writing assignments. They will transcribe press conferences and interviews, support the Press Office during significant meetings, and help organize outreach events. Additionally, interns will collect statistics about the Section's work and contribute to the analysis of its impact, ensuring that the IAEA's communication efforts are effective and timely.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Journalism, International Relations, or a relevant discipline. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF is required. A general understanding of the United Nations system, non-proliferation, nuclear power, energy, or climate change issues is considered an asset. Experience in writing and editing press releases, news features, and video scripts is also advantageous. Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed three years of full-time studies towards their first degree, or have graduated within the last year.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a bachelor's degree. Candidates who have recently graduated (within one year) with a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree are also eligible to apply. This educational background ensures that interns have a solid foundation in relevant fields that align with the IAEA's mission and activities.
