Job Overview: The UNDP Bangladesh Communications Unit is looking for a highly motivated UN Volunteer with a strong background in public communications and digital media skills. The candidate will play a crucial role in promoting judicial reforms in Bangladesh by ensuring effective communication regarding legal and governance issues. This position involves working closely with the Supreme Court and selected courts to enhance public communication about justice reform initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for tailoring communications to various audiences, including youth and student groups, and will utilize multiple media platforms to disseminate information effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with diverse audiences and to support the Supreme Court and UNDP in their communication efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the Head of the UNDP Communications Team. Key responsibilities include:
Digital Content Management: - Support the justice reforms project by increasing the digital presence of the Supreme Court. - Draft social media content in both English and Bangla for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. - Develop outreach activities for courts and justice institutions, including organizing open days and outreach to universities. - Engage with diverse audiences across all UNDP social media platforms. - Track and assess social media metrics and insights to improve engagement with key audiences.
Outreach and Media Liaison: - Draft and distribute various written communications materials, including press releases, success stories, speeches, and reports. - Support strategic engagement with national and international media. - Build and maintain relationships with key media representatives. - Assist in organizing events and campaigns.
Documentation: - Compile knowledge products from various sources. - Prepare internal documents such as reports and Terms of Reference (ToRs). - Archive reports, photos, videos, and other relevant materials. - Provide additional communications support as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong public communications skills and have a background in digital media. They should demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and professionalism in their work. The ability to engage with diverse audiences and tailor communications effectively is essential. Candidates should also have good judgment and decision-making skills, as well as strong planning and organizing abilities. Self-management and accountability are key competencies for this role.
Educational Background: A degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. Candidates with additional qualifications or certifications in digital media or public communications will be preferred.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in public communications, digital media management, or related fields. Experience working with media outlets, particularly in the context of governance, legal reforms, or investigative journalism, is highly desirable. Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation is essential.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Bangla is mandatory, as the role requires drafting content in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
