Job Overview: The Finance Specialist position under the Sustainable Markets Centre (SMC) at UNICEF Supply Division is crucial for supporting market research and supplier financing activities. The incumbent will contribute to the design and execution of innovative financing mechanisms aimed at improving market conditions for essential supplies for children. This role involves advising management on tailored financing structures, managing contracts, and developing strategies to enhance procurement prices through special contracting and financial incentives. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to drive procurement strategies and shape critical markets for essential products and services for children, ensuring that all children have equitable access to resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and advise on financing structures to improve market dynamics, including special contracting and financial incentives.
Manage contracts related to Carbon Credit Finance structure development and ensure the viability of digital verification models.
Onboard pilot Country Authorities for Carbon Credit Programs and develop necessary documentation.
Update Divisional Procedures to ensure compliance with UNICEF's financial governance.
Analyze raw material volatility and provide data analysis to support procurement centers.
Collaborate with procurement centers and external partners to drive procurement strategies.
Conduct risk-benefit analyses to maximize financing interventions and balance risks.
Engage with finance and market shaping partners to explore special contracts and financing endeavors.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree) in Business, Economics, Financing, International Development, or related discipline.
A first University degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree.
Minimum of five years of professional work experience at the international level in finance, market research, or procurement.
Proven experience in finance, market dynamics, structured finance, and building external partnerships.
Prior relevant work experience in the UN system or international development organizations is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree) in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, Financing, or International Development. Alternatively, a first University degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of professional work experience at the international level in areas such as finance, innovative finance, market research, and procurement. Candidates should have proven experience in finance-related fields, market dynamics, and structured finance mechanisms, as well as experience in building and managing relationships with external partners.
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
