Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant position is integral to the Country Office's mission to drive meaningful change through effective programmatic, administrative, and financial support. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives aligned with UNFPA's strategic goals. The Programme Assistant will support the management of project activities, facilitate communication among teams, and contribute to operational processes that enhance the impact of UNFPA's work. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and thrive in a collaborative environment, playing a crucial role in empowering teams to make informed decisions and maximize their impact on the communities they serve.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: A. Programme and Operational Support: Assisting in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the country programme, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Drafting and reviewing correspondence, ensuring clarity and compliance with standards. Facilitating communication with internal and external partners. B. Event and Logistics Management: Coordinating logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for workshops, meetings, and events. C. Data and Information Management: Maintaining and updating project files, compiling and analyzing data for reports, and managing an online filing system. D. Financial and Administrative Tasks: Preparing requisitions, processing payments, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA regulations. E. Research and Documentation: Conducting research, summarizing findings, and preparing documentation for technical papers and presentations. F. Network and Coordination Support: Assisting in coordinating the UNFPA technical network and supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives. G. Additional Responsibilities: Following up on financial reports, maintaining the office filing system, and carrying out other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary school, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to public administration, finance, international relations, or economics. They should possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills, with a proven ability to manage work routines with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with ERP systems like QUANTUM is advantageous. Basic knowledge of financial principles and experience with financial software is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school, with a preference for additional technical or university courses that relate to the work of the organization, particularly in fields such as public administration, finance, international relations, or economics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the role and the organizational context in which UNFPA operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience, which includes some experience in research assistance. Previous experience within the United Nations system or other international organizations is considered an advantage. The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and independence in work.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese and English is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Spanish is also required, which will enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse teams and stakeholders that UNFPA engages with.
