Job Overview:
The Public Information Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the communication efforts of ECLAC. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the visibility and outreach of the organization's work. The assistant will be responsible for researching, compiling, and presenting information that will be used in the preparation and production of various communications products and services. The role also includes serving as a photographic assistant, coordinating media coverage for significant events, and liaising with news agencies and public relations firms to ensure effective communication of ECLAC's initiatives. The assistant will utilize relevant computer software to create promotional materials and assist in the production and editing of multimedia projects, including video and radio programs. Additionally, the assistant will provide guidance and training to junior staff, assist in data collection and analysis, and help update information materials such as web pages and brochures. This position requires a proactive approach to communication and a commitment to supporting ECLAC's mission of promoting sustainable development in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Public Information Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: researching and compiling basic information for communications products; serving as a photographic assistant by producing digital images and photo prints; coordinating media coverage of important events and liaising with various agencies; creating designs for promotional materials using relevant software; assisting in the production and editing of multimedia projects; providing guidance and training to junior staff; collecting and analyzing data for presentations and reports; updating information materials; and performing other duties as assigned. The assistant will also be responsible for ensuring that all communications adhere to UN standards and effectively convey ECLAC's messages.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, technical or vocational studies in photography are required. The position requires at least five years of experience in public communication, international broadcasting, or a related area. This experience requirement is reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Desirable qualifications include one year or more of experience in data analytics or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of communication policies and procedures, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Candidates must clearly indicate their completion of high school in their Applicant Profile. Technical or vocational studies in photography are also required, indicating a specialized skill set that is essential for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in public communication, international broadcasting, or a related field.
