Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver is responsible for a variety of tasks including: driving UN officials and staff safely and reliably; ensuring the provision of driving services for the transport of personnel and delivery of documents; meeting visitors at the airport and assisting with visa and customs formalities; maintaining accurate vehicle logs and contributing to vehicle maintenance plans; performing day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including minor repairs and cleanliness; ensuring all necessary documents and supplies are available in the vehicle; tracking insurance and tax formalities; following regulations in case of accidents; translating in the local language when necessary; assisting office staff with filing, photocopying, and distribution of materials; and performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have at least two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, and local road conditions is essential. Skills in minor vehicle repairs are also required. Candidates should exemplify integrity, demonstrate commitment to UNFPA and the UN system, embrace cultural diversity, and be adaptable to change.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of Secondary Level education. This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the candidate possesses the basic knowledge and skills required for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly in an international context such as with the UN, embassies, or similar organizations. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the operational protocols of international organizations.
