The organization is committed to achieving three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to SRHR services, while also promoting human rights and ethical standards in its operations.

Job Overview:
The SRHR Integration and Emerging Trends Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of innovative health system strengthening programs aimed at improving the quality of care and increasing the uptake of SRHR services. This position requires close collaboration with the SRHR unit to ensure that the SRHR agenda is integrated into national health adaptation plans for climate change, and that vulnerable populations, particularly women and young migrants, have access to necessary SRHR services. The specialist will also be responsible for capacity building initiatives for healthcare workers, ensuring that they are equipped to provide high-quality, person-centered SRHR care. Additionally, the role involves developing communication tools for effective advocacy and partnership building in the SRHR sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specialist will be responsible for several key areas: 1) Supporting innovative SRHR programs, including the digitalization of healthcare and managing the KURA! program in collaboration with various partners. 2) Working with the Ministry of Health to strengthen health systems by revising strategic documents and healthcare provider curricula to include SRHR competencies. 3) Ensuring the implementation of midwifery curricula and supporting the Global Midwifery Acceleration Roadmap. 4) Acting as the migration focal point to ensure access to SRHR services for migrants. 5) Supporting the integration of SRHR priorities into climate change adaptation plans. 6) Contributing to research and resource mobilization efforts to support SRHR initiatives, including producing concept notes for funding.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in health sciences, midwifery, public health, or a related field with specialized knowledge in sexual and reproductive health. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in SRHR is required, with demonstrated expertise in at least two areas such as clinical midwifery, digital health, or comprehensive abortion care. Experience working with government institutions on health systems strengthening, particularly in policy development and program implementation, is essential. Familiarity with the national health system in Rwanda or similar contexts, as well as an understanding of the impact of climate change on SRHR, is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master's degree in health sciences, midwifery, public health, or a related field that provides specialized knowledge in sexual and reproductive health. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of SRHR and the ability to implement effective programs and policies.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. This experience should include demonstrated expertise in areas such as clinical midwifery, digital health, and comprehensive abortion care, as well as experience in integrating SRHR into various sectors, including climate change adaptation initiatives. Proven experience in working with government institutions on health systems strengthening is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other UN working languages is considered an asset. The ability to write clearly and concisely is essential for effective communication and advocacy.
