Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the UNODC Environmental Team by transcribing short videos (approximately 40 videos) that feature interviews with justice operators and environmental authorities. This role is crucial for ensuring that the information gathered is accessible and comprehensible, thereby facilitating the dissemination of knowledge about environmental justice and promoting concrete actions for sustainability and environmental protection in Latin America and the Caribbean. The transcriber will convert audio content into text, ensuring accuracy by faithfully transcribing speeches, questions, and answers from the interviews. If necessary, the transcriber may also need to rephrase and adapt the interviews to ensure coherence in the content. The transcriptions will be delivered to the Communications Team of the UNODC Environmental Team, and the transcriber will coordinate and validate the transcriptions to guarantee the accuracy and consistency of the message.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transcribe the audio content of approximately 40 short videos produced by the UNODC Environmental Team, converting spoken words into written text.
• Ensure the accuracy of the transcriptions by faithfully capturing the dialogues, questions, and responses from the interviews.
• If required, rephrase and adapt the content of the interviews to enhance coherence and flow.
• Deliver the completed transcriptions to the Communications Team of the UNODC Environmental Team.
• Coordinate with the team to validate the transcriptions, ensuring that the final output is accurate and consistent with the intended message.
• Handle confidential information with integrity and respect, ensuring the privacy of interviewees is maintained and that all information treated in the transcriptions is kept confidential.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in transcription, with a keen ear for detail and accuracy.
• Excellent command of the Spanish language, both written and spoken, as the interviews are conducted in Spanish.
• Familiarity with environmental issues and justice systems is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with the UNODC team and ensure clarity in the transcriptions.

Educational Background:
A background in environmental studies, social sciences, linguistics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant experience in transcription or related tasks may compensate for formal educational qualifications.

Experience:
Previous experience in transcription, particularly in the context of interviews or discussions, is highly desirable. Familiarity with environmental topics or work with international organizations can enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.

Languages:
Mandatory: Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken). Good to have: Knowledge of English or other languages relevant to the UNODC's work may be beneficial but is not required.
