Job Overview: The Protection Case Management Officer (Caseworker) plays a crucial role in the implementation of protection case management for individuals at heightened risk. This position requires collaboration with the Protection Team Leader and Protection Manager to ensure that the case management aligns with DRC's overall protection strategy in Syria. The officer will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing action plans, and providing comprehensive support to clients, ensuring that their rights and entitlements are communicated effectively. The role also involves maintaining accurate case files and databases, advocating for clients, and participating in training and capacity development initiatives. The officer must adhere to DRC's Code of Conduct and safety procedures while executing their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Protection Case Management Officer will have a variety of responsibilities, including: identifying and receiving referrals of individuals at heightened risk; providing comprehensive case management assistance in line with DRC's SOPs; conducting household visits and center-based interviews; developing and implementing action plans tailored to clients' needs; assessing risks and supporting clients in understanding their situations; organizing cash for protection (C4P) provisions; maintaining service mapping and relationships with service providers; ensuring accurate and confidential case file management; participating in case conference meetings; advocating for clients' access to services; submitting timely reports; and participating in training and capacity development initiatives as assigned. The officer will also carry out other relevant tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess relevant professional experience of at least 2 years, particularly in social work and counseling. They should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate with empathy, and a strong understanding of humanitarian programming, especially in protection and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support services. The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect clients' safety is essential. Candidates should also exhibit strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure, and effective teamwork capabilities. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and address barriers faced by individuals at risk of discrimination.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively support individuals in need of protection case management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in social work and counseling. Candidates should have a strong understanding of humanitarian programming, especially in protection and psychosocial support services, and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is essential for this role, as it is the primary language of communication with clients. A working knowledge of English is preferred, as it may facilitate communication with international colleagues and access to resources.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is for a duration of 6 months, and it is classified at the Non-Management I2 level. The expected start date is as soon as possible.
