Job Overview:
The Country Director (CD) serves as the official representative of Solidarités International in Ukraine, overseeing the smooth operation of the mission. The CD is responsible for proposing and implementing the mission strategy in alignment with the geopolitical and humanitarian context. This role involves monitoring project progress to ensure compliance with SI's charter and internal procedures, mobilizing necessary resources for effective program execution, and ensuring the safety of the teams on the ground. The CD will also act as the primary liaison with SI's headquarters, navigating the challenges of transitioning from emergency response to recovery and development projects, while engaging with local authorities and donors to enhance program visibility and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director's responsibilities include:
  • Proposing and implementing the mission strategy based on the humanitarian context.
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring compliance with internal and contractual procedures.
  • Mobilizing material and financial resources necessary for program execution.
  • Coordinating and supervising the teams, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Leading the transition towards reconstruction and development projects.
  • Engaging with donors and local authorities to strengthen partnerships.
  • Supporting the establishment of a new organizational structure post-BHA.
  • Identifying areas for capacity building and improving collective performance.
  • Operationalizing the localization strategy and enhancing mission autonomy. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Humanitarian Affairs or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with at least 3-4 years in a similar leadership position. Candidates should demonstrate strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and respond to challenges effectively. Networking skills, donor engagement, and strategic development capabilities are essential. Additionally, candidates should have strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to mobilize necessary resources to achieve objectives.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Humanitarian Affairs or an equivalent field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the strategic planning required for effective program implementation.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3-4 years in a similar role, such as a Country Director or in senior management within humanitarian organizations. This experience should include direct involvement in program management, strategic planning, and donor engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international stakeholders. Proficiency in French is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with certain partners and donors.

The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 3,740, which consists of a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 700 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses covered by the organization. Expatriates are entitled to breaks every three months, with an allowance for rest days. The organization offers a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations.
