Job Overview: The Finance Coordinator is responsible for implementing financial procedures and contributing to the planning and execution of NRC projects in Ukraine. This role involves overseeing the finance team in the North Area of Ukraine and ensuring that financial systems and procedures are developed and adhered to. The Finance Coordinator will prepare and submit financial reports, support line managers with finance-related procedures, and provide training to the finance team. The position requires a strong understanding of financial management within a humanitarian context and the ability to maintain accurate financial records and reports. The Finance Coordinator will also play a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability of the Area Office and supporting project staff with financial matters.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator will have a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring the development and implementation of NRC’s finance systems and procedures; preparing and submitting financial reports and analyses; maintaining accurate finance records and preparing monthly accounts; leading monthly Budget Vs Actuals (BvA) meetings; updating the Master Budget Spending Plan; ensuring sufficient cash flow for operations; training and building capacity of finance staff; supporting the Finance Manager during audits; assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and donor financial reports; providing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and reports to management; and promoting cooperation with relevant departments in the Country Office. The role also involves managing finance staff recruitment, performance management, and training.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Finance Coordinator position should possess broad experience in finance and leading a finance unit, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. An intermediate understanding of international accounting standards is essential, along with documented results related to financial management responsibilities. Knowledge of the NGO sector and the specific context in Ukraine is crucial. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, familiarity with international donor regulations, and proficiency in accounting systems, particularly advanced MS Excel. Fluency in English and Ukrainian or Russian, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required for the Finance Coordinator position, typically including a degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Additional certifications in financial management or accounting may be advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development in the finance sector.
Experience: The position requires significant experience in finance management, ideally within the NGO sector or humanitarian context. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing finance teams and implementing financial procedures effectively. Experience in preparing financial reports, conducting analyses, and supporting audits is also essential. The role demands a strong understanding of financial sustainability and the ability to work in challenging environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in either Ukrainian or Russian, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.
