Job Overview:
The Job Developer plays a crucial role within the Sacramento Economic Empowerment Department, focusing on assisting newly arrived refugee clients in attaining self-sufficiency through employment. This position involves identifying and creating job opportunities for clients by conducting outreach and engaging with employers. The Job Developer will be responsible for matching qualified clients with these employment opportunities, developing relationships with employers, successfully placing clients into jobs, and providing ongoing retention services. The role requires maintaining relevant internal tracking systems to monitor progress and ensure that clients are supported throughout their employment journey. The Job Developer will also contribute to the overall mission of the department by promoting initiatives that foster team engagement and inclusion, while adhering to IRC values and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Job Developer's responsibilities include conducting employer outreach to identify job opportunities and build new employer relationships. The position requires coordination with at least 25 employer partners to host monthly on-site job events for enrolled clients each year. The Job Developer is expected to contribute to the placement of 50 full-time and 13 part-time jobs through established employer partnerships annually. Developing, cultivating, and maintaining positive relationships with area employers to identify suitable employment opportunities for clients is essential. The Job Developer will educate employers on the benefits of hiring refugees and the necessary right-to-work documentation. Acting as a liaison between the IRC, employers, clients, and community partners is a key responsibility. The Job Developer will also research and attend relevant job development events, plan and implement workshops, and assist clients in accessing employment opportunities by guiding them through the hiring process. Additional duties include customizing clients' resumes, assisting with applications and new hire paperwork, monitoring job performance, and addressing any post-placement issues. The Job Developer is expected to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual job placement goals while promoting team engagement and adherence to IRC policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills for effective networking and influence, with a proven ability to foster and manage relationships with clients and employers. Prior experience in building relationships with employers or organizational partners is essential for successful program outcomes. Strong analytical skills are required to forecast potential problems and develop contingency plans quickly. Excellent organizational skills are necessary to track large amounts of information and maintain records of progress. Effective conflict management skills and the ability to communicate relevant expectations are also important. Familiarity with the Sacramento job market is strongly preferred. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English. Proven success in taking initiative, achieving goals, and working effectively in a multicultural environment is crucial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required, along with a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area. Strong leadership skills are also necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, human services, business administration, or a related area. A background in workforce development, community engagement, or a similar field is highly desirable. Additional certifications or training related to job development or employment services may be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience in job development, workforce development, or a related field. Experience working with refugee populations or diverse communities is highly valued. Proven track record of successful job placements and employer engagement is essential for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken by refugee populations in the Sacramento area, is considered a strong asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to connect with clients and employers.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Sacramento, California, and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. The working environment is a standard office setting with regular travel in and around the service delivery area. The organization offers a hybrid work model with stable Wi-Fi requirements.
