Job Overview:
The position of PLM Business Analyst and Application Engineer at CERN is pivotal for the Engineering Information Management group, which is responsible for providing and supporting software solutions for CERN's engineering community. Duties and Responsibilities:
As a PLM Business Analyst and Application Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing initiatives to analyze, transform, and implement engineering processes using the PLM platform.
  • Providing technical expertise and advice to PLM users, disseminating best practices, and resolving issues related to PLM capabilities and CAD data management.
  • Engaging with key users to translate their needs into design specifications and high-level data or process models.
  • Documenting new business processes and contributing to the training of the PLM user community.
  • Configuring and maintaining PLM tools in accordance with organizational needs and standards.
  • Collaborating with internal and external development teams to enhance systems and address functionality gaps.
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement efforts for both services and tools provided by the group.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in mechanical, electrical, computing engineering, or a related field. Additionally, professional experience in using and configuring PLM tools is essential, with knowledge of Aras being a plus. Experience in software and process transformation projects within an engineering context is required, along with proven skills in defining, documenting, and managing requirements and processes. A genuine interest in providing user support and building user relations is also necessary. Experience with CAD tools, Digital Twins, Simulation tools, and Business Intelligence/Database Querying (SQL) is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, or computing engineering. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of engineering processes and the technical aspects of PLM tools.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have professional experience in using and configuring PLM tools, as well as experience in software and process transformation projects within an engineering environment. Proven experience in defining, documenting, and managing requirements and processes is essential. Additionally, experience working with CAD tools and practical experience with Digital Twins or Simulation tools will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, with a minimum level of C1 required. Candidates should be able to understand and communicate effectively in professional contexts, including the ability to draft technical specifications and scientific reports. While proficiency in French is not mandatory, a willingness to learn and improve in French is encouraged, with courses provided by CERN.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of applying for an indefinite position subject to certain conditions. The role may require work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as needed by the organization, as well as stand-by duty.
