Job Overview: The UNEP FI Impact Centre is seeking a motivated intern to support its team with research and engagement work. The intern will assist with activities related to the Impact Centre's development work, including the iteration of Impact Mappings and Tools, interoperability projects, and external engagement activities, particularly in the context of the Impact Management Platform. The internship provides an opportunity to engage with various stakeholders and contribute to the development of implementation support materials for banks, thereby playing a crucial role in advancing sustainable finance initiatives. Daily responsibilities may vary based on the intern's background and the internship period, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with the intern's skills and interests.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties may include, but are not limited to: conducting research to support the iteration of the UNEP FI Needs Mapping and Interlinkages Mapping; conducting testing activities to support the iteration of the Portfolio Impact Analysis Tool for banks, focusing on the Context Module, Identification Modules, and ESRS Disclosure Module; conducting research and translation as applicable to support various interoperability projects; supporting the development of implementation support materials on impact analysis for PRB banks, including creating workshop slide decks and brief presentations of UNEP FI impact management resources; and engaging with stakeholders to assist in updating the resource database, glossary, and extranet of the Impact Management Platform.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Additionally, applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams. A background in international relations, development studies, economics, business administration, or finance is preferred, ideally with some experience in research and communications through internships or extracurricular activities.
Educational Background: Candidates should be enrolled in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or in a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment from the current university is required if not graduated, and a copy of the degree certificate is needed if the candidate has already graduated.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Recent graduates or students in relevant fields are encouraged to apply, as the internship is designed to provide practical experience in a professional setting.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, Portuguese, or Chinese is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's profile and ability to engage in a multilingual environment.
