Job Overview: The Information Management Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining and advancing Relief International's data management practices within the country and field offices. This position is vital for supporting country staff in adhering to key Information Management policies and practices. The officer will collaborate with country Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) staff to ensure the collection, input, and visualization of high-quality data. The officer is responsible for maintaining RI's MEAL information management systems, ensuring that the collected data is valid, reliable, and effectively utilized in reports and visuals that inform data-driven decision-making. This role is particularly important in the context of emergency response and transition, as it directly impacts the organization's ability to deliver timely and effective assistance to communities in need.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting regional MEAL staff in training country staff on LogAlto and acting as an administrator; routinely collecting required programmatic indicators from staff to track organizational progress; uploading these indicators into LogAlto and visualizing them using PowerBI; conducting quality assurance checks and training country and project staff on data integrity issues; building and monitoring capacity related to data integrity and data protection; advising RI staff on emerging trends regarding data management; providing training and support to non-MEAL staff on data processing and analysis; offering short-term technical assistance for data interpretation and analysis; conducting in-country training related to project and programmatic data management processes; upholding and promoting RI's commitment to safeguarding vulnerable communities; contributing to the implementation of safeguarding policies; and advocating for the inclusion of safeguarding activities within programs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess experience in working with Management Information Systems (MIS) and have a relevant academic background, ideally with a technical degree related to MIS, database management, software development, research, social science, or statistics. A strong theoretical and educational foundation in MIS/GIS and mapping for humanitarian and development work is highly desirable. Proficiency in MIS/GIS software and database software such as Access, SQL, or FoxPro is essential, along with a good command of Power BI and related platforms. Advanced computer skills in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are required, including experience with pivot tables, database design, and graphical representation. Candidates should also demonstrate an excellent visual design sense for clear and accurate data presentation.
Educational Background: The position requires a relevant academic background, ideally with a technical degree in fields such as Management Information Systems, database management, software development, research, social science, or statistics. A strong educational foundation in MIS/GIS and mapping for humanitarian and development work is preferred, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience working with Management Information Systems (MIS) and a proven track record in data management practices. Experience in training staff on data integrity and data protection, as well as providing technical assistance for data analysis, is highly valued. Familiarity with the specific challenges and requirements of humanitarian and development contexts will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Turkish is essential for this role, as it is critical for effective communication with local staff and communities. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a bonus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse populations and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as requiring standard pre-employment checks, and due to the nature of this emergency role, only candidates already based in Turkey will be considered.
