The organization employs a dual approach that combines humanitarian aid with development strategies, providing immediate services while also laying the groundwork for long-term impact and resilience. RI's focus areas include health and nutrition, education, economic opportunity, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming, all while integrating protection, environmental concerns, and conflict mitigation in collaboration with the communities it serves. RI empowers these communities to identify, design, and implement solutions tailored to their specific needs. In 2021, the organization's program budget was approximately $125 million, funded by a diverse range of institutional donors, including the US, UK, Europe, and the UN. RI is committed to supporting solutions that enhance and improve existing in-country systems, and where such systems are lacking or underperforming, RI's crisis response efforts aim to establish a foundation for sustainable change in the long term.

Job Overview:
The Physical Rehabilitation Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the RI Health Team and its partners in Turkey-based programs. This position is responsible for providing technical oversight to ensure the quality of services offered by RI's supported physical rehabilitation and prosthetics center in Turkey. The officer will deliver technical assistance to RI's partners and coordinate activities at the targeted facility, with the ultimate goal of enhancing service quality. The role requires adherence to established procedures and protocols at all times, ensuring that the rehabilitation services provided meet the highest standards. The officer will also be involved in training and capacity-building efforts for partner staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary tools and guidelines for effective project implementation. This position is vital in maintaining a comprehensive rehabilitation approach and fostering collaboration between prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) technicians and physiotherapists, thereby ensuring that beneficiaries receive the best possible care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Physical Rehabilitation Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: conducting regular technical and quality analyses for prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) and physical therapy components; ensuring the technical quality of rehabilitation services delivered to project beneficiaries; maintaining a comprehensive rehabilitation approach that promotes teamwork between P&O technicians and physiotherapists; assessing the physical rehabilitation team's challenges and needs for safe and effective care implementation; identifying specific training needs and communicating them to the Rehab Coordinator; delivering training sessions to partner rehabilitation staff on relevant tools and guidelines; ensuring proper application of the beneficiary rehabilitation pathway designed by RI's technical team; overseeing technical assessments and documentation that comply with RI's rehabilitation guidelines; contributing to technical data collection for post-rehabilitation monitoring; coordinating beneficiary identification for technical reviews; providing direct supervision of program activities to ensure alignment with RI's technical framework; performing case management and weekly meetings with partner staff; participating in comprehensive needs assessments and stakeholder mapping; coordinating necessary training; translating physical rehabilitation tools and guidelines as needed; writing monthly updates on PT and P&O services; preparing and updating a monthly action plan with clear objectives; participating in Health unit meetings; respecting confidentiality of all information; and performing any other duties as assigned by the line manager. The officer will also uphold and promote RI's commitment to safeguarding vulnerable communities, ensuring that all interactions with staff and communities are conducted safely and ethically.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Physical Rehabilitation Officer position must possess formal education or professional training in prosthetics and physiotherapy, or have experience in a related medical discipline. Experience working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in humanitarian or development contexts is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and spoken Turkish, with proficiency in Arabic considered a bonus. The ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and cultures is essential, as is the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, sometimes in remote settings. Candidates should also exhibit strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to the principles of humanitarian work.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes formal education or professional training in prosthetics and physiotherapy. Candidates should have a solid understanding of rehabilitation practices and methodologies, as well as relevant medical knowledge that supports their ability to perform the duties associated with this role effectively.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, particularly with NGOs. This experience should include direct involvement in rehabilitation services, technical oversight, and capacity-building efforts. Familiarity with the challenges faced in fragile settings and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments will be advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in Turkish is mandatory for this position, as strong spoken and written communication skills in this language are essential for effective collaboration with local partners and beneficiaries. While not required, knowledge of Arabic is considered a valuable asset that may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as requiring standard pre-employment checks, and due to the nature of this emergency role, only candidates already based in Turkey will be considered. The role does not have direct reports or budget responsibilities. The application process involves submitting a CV and a cover letter, which should not exceed two pages and must explain the candidate's interest in the position and how their skills and experience align with the requirements. The closing date for applications is immediate, as the organization will review applicants on a rolling basis and may withdraw the position from the job board at any time. Relief International maintains a zero-tolerance policy for unlawful harassment, sexual exploitation, and abuse, and is committed to protecting staff and communities from harm. All staff are expected to adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct, and recruitment includes a criminal records self-declaration, references, and other pre-employment checks.
