Job Overview: The Operations Officer position is integral to the management of logistics activities across various programs within Relief International. This role is designed to support the effective management of logistics, staff, vehicles, assets, and relief stock supply chains, as well as IT and distribution processes to beneficiaries. The Operations Officer will play a crucial role in establishing, maintaining, or scaling up logistics functions, working closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and senior management team to optimize the use of RI resources. Given the emergency nature of this role, candidates must already be based in Turkey and possess strong spoken and written Turkish skills. The position involves coordinating logistics in compliance with RI guidelines and policies, ensuring that all logistics procedures are understood and adhered to by relevant staff, and assisting program managers in developing logistics elements of project plans. The Operations Officer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with procurement practices, managing transportation logistics, overseeing vehicle fleet management, maintaining warehouse systems, and ensuring effective communication systems are in place across all program locations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including: coordinating program logistics in accordance with country procedures and RI guidelines; ensuring adherence to minimum standards of logistics procedures; assisting Operations & Program Managers in developing logistics components of project plans; collaborating with the Country Management Team to share information on assessments and logistics requirements; ensuring compliance with local, national, and international procurement practices; managing transportation logistics for timely delivery of supplies; overseeing vehicle fleet management and maintenance; maintaining warehouse systems and stock management; managing program communication systems; maintaining a centralized program asset register; conducting regular site visits to ensure operational systems are functioning; complying with RI policies regarding vulnerable populations; ensuring facilities and compound management meet health and safety standards; promoting safeguarding and protection policies; and undertaking additional tasks as required by the Country Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess relevant experience in supply, logistics, operations, or administration, preferably within the NGO sector and with international exposure. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively under challenging conditions and high-stress environments. A valid international driver's license is required, and candidates must be willing to travel to all areas of Turkey where programs are implemented. Fluency in spoken and written Turkish is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered a bonus.
