Job Overview: The Empathy Leader will be responsible for spearheading the Empathy initiative in South Asia, which is part of Ashoka's broader Global Empathy Initiative. This role requires an imaginative and collaborative entrepreneur who can lead and grow teams, build partnerships, and drive a fundamental shift in children's education by promoting empathy as a core skill. The Empathy Leader will work closely with Ashoka's CEO and senior stakeholders to create an integrated team environment that connects Ashoka Fellows, educational institutions, media partners, and government agencies. The goal is to make empathy a standard part of the educational experience for every child in the region, thereby contributing to a global movement for social change.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development and growth of the Empathy initiative in South Asia, ensuring alignment with Ashoka's mission and vision.
Collaborate with Ashoka teams and external partners to create a cohesive network that supports the initiative.
Engage with Ashoka Fellows and movement partners to identify and implement innovative strategies for promoting empathy in education.
Raise resources and develop new revenue models to sustain the initiative and expand its reach.
Design and implement systems to gather insights from Ashoka Fellow innovations and leverage them for broader impact.
Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including educational institutions, government agencies, and media organizations, to build support for the initiative.
Manage fundraising efforts and ensure balanced budget management for the initiative.
Serve as a spokesperson for the Empathy initiative, articulating its vision and impact to various audiences.
Required Qualifications:
Proven track record of creating and implementing innovative ideas that lead to systemic change in relevant fields.
Deep belief in the power of social entrepreneurship and alignment with Ashoka's Everyone a Changemaker™ vision.
Strong understanding of empathy and its importance in education and social development.
Experience in managing programs focused on empathy and changemaking, with the ability to leverage networks across various sectors.
Demonstrated success in scaling social impact and leading organizations through influence and collaboration.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
Experience in client/partner relationship management, fundraising, and resource mobilization.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding advanced degrees in education, social entrepreneurship, or related disciplines. Candidates should have a strong understanding of educational systems and social change methodologies.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership roles, preferably in social entrepreneurship, education, or related fields. Candidates should have a proven ability to innovate and implement solutions that drive social impact and demonstrate experience in managing teams and partnerships.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with additional proficiency in local languages being advantageous. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across different sectors.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and based in India. The Empathy Leader will be expected to travel within the region as necessary to engage with partners and stakeholders.
