Job Overview:
The position of Economic Research Consultant is crucial for the CID/CID team, which is focused on economic analysis within the region. The consultant will play a significant role in analyzing macroeconomic data and its implications on education investment. This role requires a professional adept in data analysis, particularly in understanding household consumption patterns and the economic impact of public expenditure on education. The consultant will be expected to contribute to literature reviews, data analysis, and the writing of comprehensive reports that assess the macroeconomic effects of educational investments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economic Research Consultant will be responsible for several key tasks:
  • Conducting thorough literature reviews on the macroeconomic effects of public expenditure changes, particularly in education.
  • Analyzing household consumption patterns through household surveys to understand the economic behavior of different demographics.
  • Utilizing input-output matrixes to analyze domestic value-added and production origins by sector.
  • Contributing to the writing of analytical reports that detail the macroeconomic aggregates influenced by educational investments.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure that all analyses align with the objectives of the CID/CID agenda.
  • Engaging in continuous learning and professional development to enhance analytical skills and knowledge of economic trends.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Technical Degree or an equivalent advanced degree in economics, statistics, or a related field relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of econometric packages, household surveys, and input-output matrixes. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively is essential, as is a result-driven mindset.

Educational Background:
A Technical Degree or an equivalent advanced degree in economics, statistics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative analysis, enabling the consultant to effectively engage with complex data sets and economic models.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in economic analysis or a related field. This experience should include practical knowledge of data analysis techniques and familiarity with macroeconomic concepts, particularly as they relate to education and public expenditure.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and candidates should also have a working knowledge of at least one other Bank language, such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is classified as a National Consultant under a National Remote Modality, with a duration of 9 months. The selected candidate will work remotely and will not be provided with a physical workspace at the Bank’s Country Office. It is the candidate's responsibility to set up their workspace and ensure they have the necessary equipment and internet access.
