Job Overview: The Research Analyst for the Essential Medicines and Oxygen (EM&O2) program will play a crucial role in supporting the national lead for Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and state teams in various data management tasks. This position involves developing data collection formats for pilot projects, conducting data analysis and visualizations, and assisting in research writing. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and data management skills, along with excellent communication abilities. The role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and adapt to dynamic situations while maintaining a commitment to excellence. The Research Analyst will contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality related to hypoxemia and improving access to high-quality oxygen services in collaboration with state health departments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Collaborating with the M&E lead to design and develop questionnaires and data collection tools, including methodologies for surveys and evaluations.
Collecting and compiling data from secondary sources such as government databases and surveys for ongoing program activities and pilot projects.
Participating in primary data collection and conducting assessment visits.
Performing data quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness, addressing any discrepancies with teams.
Cleaning, organizing, and managing large datasets, including merging data from various sources.
Analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting data using statistical tools, including descriptive and inferential analysis.
Preparing analytical reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
Regularly updating the M&E dashboard and reporting frameworks for ongoing projects.
Supporting capacity-building activities related to data management and analysis for internal team members. 1
Assisting with additional responsibilities as requested by program leadership.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, statistics, data analytics, development studies, or a related field. They should have at least 4 years of relevant work experience in data management for public health programs or related areas. Proven experience in handling large datasets and conducting statistical analysis is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in data management and analysis software such as Excel, STATA, R, and Tableau. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Hindi are required, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. High emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to navigate complex processes are also important traits for this role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, statistics, data analytics, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the foundational knowledge necessary for effective data management and analysis in the context of public health initiatives.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in data management, particularly in programs related to public health, public policy, or administration. Experience working with government stakeholders and familiarity with the Indian public health system or social impact sector will be considered an advantage. The ability to handle large datasets and perform statistical analysis is crucial for success in this role.
