Job Overview:
The Country Director will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the 2025-2027 Strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in Afghanistan, a complex and challenging environment. This role involves ensuring the quality and impact of the organization's activities through effective management and adherence to institutional policies. The Country Director will work under the Geographic Director MECA and will be tasked with leading the operational strategy, fundraising, resource planning, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security management. The position requires a strong understanding of the geopolitical context and the ability to navigate multi-stakeholder environments. The Country Director will also represent HI in various forums and negotiations, promoting the organization's mission and values.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management: Serve as the top manager of the Programme organization, embodying and transmitting HI values, ensuring compliance with the code of conduct and institutional policies, and conducting Programme Steering Committee meetings with direct managers.
  • Deployment of HI Strategy 2025: Develop and implement the Programme’s Operational Strategy, monitor its annual progress, manage fundraising and resource planning, ensure compliance with HI global frameworks, and oversee financial control and security management.
  • Legal Representation: Act as the legal representative of HI, promoting a positive image and negotiating operational partnerships.
  • Influence and Leadership: Enhance HI's external influence and representation in the Programme’s geographical scope, advocating for the organization’s mandate and engaging with external parties.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 8 years of professional experience in the humanitarian or development sector, with a minimum of 3 years as a Country Director in challenging contexts. Proven success in programme management and strategic development is essential, along with the ability to understand complex geopolitical contexts and manage multi-stakeholder environments. Extensive experience in security management and HR management skills are also required, along with a strong capacity for skill transfer and fluency in English.

Educational Background:
