Job Overview:
The position of Senior Macroeconomist Consultant within the Research Department (RES) of the IDB Group is pivotal in generating innovative ideas that support the policy agenda of the Bank and its member countries. The consultant will engage in extensive research activities aimed at enriching the knowledge base necessary for sustainable and equitable development in the region. This role involves collaboration with RES economists to prepare key reports, presentations, and policy documents that address critical macroeconomic issues such as fiscal policy, monetary policy, economic growth, and trade. The consultant will also participate in organizing seminars and conferences, contributing to the dissemination of research findings and facilitating discussions with stakeholders. The overarching goal is to ensure that the research conducted by RES effectively informs the Bank's strategic decisions and enhances its impact on the economic landscape of LAC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Macroeconomist Consultant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: supporting RES economists in the preparation of the Annual Macroeconomic Report and its dissemination; assisting in organizing meetings with stakeholders, including preparing speaker guidelines and providing logistical support; preparing briefing materials on key macroeconomic policy issues; participating in discussions with stakeholders regarding the macroeconomic situation in LAC; providing scientific support for IDB publications and presentations; collaborating with RES economists in reviewing country macroeconomic reports; maintaining macroeconomic databases; conducting directed research activities; and actively participating in research seminars and conferences organized by RES. The consultant will also be expected to conduct scientific research on broad macroeconomic topics, contributing to the overall knowledge and understanding of economic conditions in the region.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD degree in economics, finance, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of post-doctorate experience in a relevant area is required. The ideal candidate will have experience providing research and policy insights to various stakeholders, expertise in macroeconomic assessments, and a proven ability to manage projects with minimal supervision. Strong programming skills in languages such as Stata, Python, R, or Matlab are essential, along with experience working with databases and specialized statistical packages. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively with team members.

Educational Background:
A PhD degree in economics, finance, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This advanced educational background is crucial for understanding complex macroeconomic theories and applying them to real-world scenarios, particularly in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of post-doctorate experience in a related field.
