Job Overview:
The Asia Research Consultant position is designed to support the Strategy and Insights Team at PSI in addressing their research needs across the Asia region. This role involves a flexible arrangement through Indefinite Quantity Contracts (IQC), allowing for the provision of various research services as needed. The consultant will be responsible for leading or advising on the design, implementation, and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative research studies. This includes analyzing secondary research data, developing training workshops, and creating protocols for submission to Research Ethics Boards. The consultant will also engage in literature reviews and produce evidence communication materials such as technical briefs and publications. The role is crucial in advancing PSI's learning priorities and promoting the utilization of research insights to improve health outcomes in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Asia Research Consultant, the individual will undertake a variety of tasks including: leading or supporting the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research studies; advising on the analysis of secondary research data and monitoring data; developing and facilitating training or dissemination workshops; creating protocols for submission to Research Ethics Boards; conducting desk reviews and literature reviews; performing market, health system, and health financing landscaping analyses; and producing evidence communication materials such as technical briefs, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations. The consultant will also be expected to work collaboratively with the Global Operations team to ensure that research findings are effectively utilized and communicated to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field such as public health, biostatistics, health economics, implementation science, or related disciplines. A Doctorate Degree or its international equivalent is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of related experience, with at least 2 years of working experience in Asia. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading the design, collection, cleaning, analysis, and presentation of both quantitative and qualitative research, as well as experience in submitting research protocols to Research Ethics Boards. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with data analysis programs are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree or PhD in fields relevant to health research, such as public health, biostatistics, health economics, implementation science, anthropology, sociology, demography, epidemiology, or behavioral science. A Doctorate Degree or its international equivalent is preferred, indicating a high level of expertise in the relevant area of study.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of related experience, with a minimum of 2 years specifically working in the Asia region. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in leading research projects, including the design and implementation of research studies, as well as experience in data analysis and the production of technical reports. Experience in submitting research protocols to Research Ethics Boards and implementing quality assurance protocols during research is also essential.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and candidates with proficiency in additional Asian languages such as Khmer, Vietnamese, Laotian, Nepali, Urdu, Hindi, or Burmese are preferred. This linguistic capability is important for effective communication and collaboration within the diverse cultural contexts of the Asia region.
