Job Overview:
The Logistics Manager will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director and collaborate with headquarters services to ensure the efficient management of logistics resources in the region. This role is crucial for addressing the logistical challenges posed by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, particularly in light of the recent escalation of conflict and the resulting humanitarian needs. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for implementing HI's logistics standards, which involve reworking the logistics positioning within the organization and promoting professional development. The position will also require providing remote support to local partners while preparing for direct implementation projects in Sudan, contingent upon visa approvals. The Logistics Manager's engagement will focus on establishing robust logistics processes aligned with HI policies and sector best practices, ensuring rapid scalability while maintaining compliance, and providing technical support to local partners for complex procurement and logistics adjustments in response to the evolving security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Defining the Logistics section of the Strategic Operations Plan (StratOp) and directing its action plan.
  • Deploying HI’s logistics standards and contributing to the expertise and accountability within their remit.
  • Operational implementation of logistics, including conducting diagnostic phases and contextual analyses.
  • Resource planning during the design phase and procurement planning during the launch phase.
  • Facilitating the development of the logistics profession within the organization and contributing to its overall growth.
  • Preparing for emergency responses and ensuring that logistics processes are in place to support rapid deployment in crisis situations.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to field teams and local partners to ensure effective logistics management in the context of humanitarian operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a degree in logistics or supply chain management, with additional training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations, or possess equivalent experience. A minimum of five years of proven experience in sectors such as procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least four years of experience in a coordination position, demonstrating strong analytical and synthesis skills, as well as experience in local capacity building. The ability to manage stress and work effectively under pressure in emergency contexts is essential, along with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, and proficiency in communication and negotiation in English.

Educational Background:
The position requires a degree in logistics or supply chain management, complemented by training in logistics management and humanitarian project development.
