Job Overview:
The Senior Director for Climate Finance will lead WWF's efforts in developing innovative financial structures for climate finance and carbon markets. This role is pivotal in mobilizing sustainable funding through various mechanisms such as carbon credits, corporate investments, and philanthropic grants. The Senior Director will oversee the Planet Portfolio initiative, which aims to implement Nature-based Solutions (NbS) that mitigate climate change while ensuring equitable benefit-sharing for communities. The position requires collaboration with multiple teams within WWF to generate demonstration deals and strategies that drive market transformation in climate and nature finance. The Senior Director will report to the Senior Vice President – Climate and manage a team focused on climate finance deal origination and financial modeling.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Senior Director include leading the deal origination and finance pillar of the Planet Portfolio, focusing on executing corporate engagement transactions in selected landscapes. The role involves evaluating investment opportunities for climate mitigation, conducting due diligence, and structuring deal terms. The Senior Director will manage two directors responsible for climate finance and landscape finance, oversee the development of proposals for private and public sector investors, and enhance the Climate team's capability in identifying and structuring carbon market projects. Additionally, the Senior Director will prepare investment documentation, represent the Climate Finance team in meetings, and support WWF’s position on nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a graduate degree in economics, business administration, or finance, along with 8-12 years of transactional experience in ecosystem-based climate investments or structuring carbon credit transactions. Proven experience with various transaction structures, including impact bonds and blended finance transactions, is essential. Familiarity with carbon markets, landscape data collection, and carbon credit pricing is a strong differentiator. Candidates should have superior analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to building an inclusive culture within teams.

Educational Background:

The position requires a minimum of 8-12 years of relevant experience, particularly in transactional roles involving ecosystem-based climate investments or project finance deals. Experience in carbon markets and familiarity with various transaction structures will be highly valued.
