Job Overview:
The Programme/Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of program activities at the UNFPA Office in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. This position involves providing programmatic and financial support, ensuring compliance with UN/UNFPA rules and regulations, and facilitating effective communication within the office and with external stakeholders. The assistant will be responsible for logistical support, knowledge management, and contributing to the management of program data. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams and partners to achieve program objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme/Finance Assistant will assist the programme team by providing support to implementing partners, maintaining contact lists, and ensuring easy access to information. Responsibilities include assisting in program formulation, maintaining project profiles, collating program-related information, and monitoring the submission of progress and financial reports. The assistant will also coordinate HACT assurance activities, coach implementing agencies on financial rules, and support administrative matters such as travel arrangements and meeting logistics. Additional duties include managing filing systems, preparing documentation for meetings, and ensuring effective communication flows within the unit and with external counterparts. The role may also involve performing ad-hoc duties related to monitoring and evaluation of the country program.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary level education or an equivalent. A first-level university degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accountancy, or related fields is desirable. The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in a similar role, with some experience in research assistance and a general understanding of program support, monitoring, and evaluation being advantageous. Strong writing and communication skills are essential, as well as good interpersonal, planning, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities. Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Atlas/PeopleSoft is an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary education, with a preference for candidates holding a first-level university degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Commerce, or Accountancy. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the financial and programmatic aspects of the role and for effectively supporting the implementation of UNFPA's programs.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in a similar role, which should include experience in program support, monitoring, and evaluation. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of the operational and financial processes within a UN context, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Previous experience in the United Nations system is considered an advantage, as it provides familiarity with the organization's protocols and procedures.

Languages:
