Job Posting Organization:
The Asia Pacific Regional Office (APAC RO) of ICAO, located in Bangkok, is dedicated to maintaining continuous liaison with accredited States and international organizations. Established to ensure interregional coordination, it promotes the implementation of ICAO policies and provides technical guidance to States. The Regional Sub Office (RSO) in Beijing complements the APAC RO, focusing on capacity building in Air Traffic Management (ATM) for 39 APAC States. The organization plays a crucial role in air navigation planning and implementation in the Asia and Pacific region, ensuring that regional needs are met effectively.

Job Overview:
The internship position is designed for individuals who are keen to gain practical experience in the field of Air Traffic Management (ATM). The intern will work under the supervision of the Regional Officer, Air Traffic Management, and will be involved in various research and analytical tasks. The role requires the intern to compile data on global and regional ATM practices, conduct gap analyses, and support the development of recommendations for improving ATM capabilities in the APAC region. The intern will also assist in organizing capacity-building activities and maintaining databases related to inter-State coordination. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with international aviation standards and practices while contributing to the development of airspace management in the Asia Pacific region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: researching and compiling data on ATM practices, conducting gap analyses of the APAC ATS Routes Network, identifying operational requirements related to Airspace Management, preparing case studies on successful ATM implementations, assisting in organizing seminars and workshops, maintaining a database for ICAO APAC ATS route catalogues, drafting templates and progress reports, developing recommendations for ATM projects, preparing visual aids for ICAO events, and taking notes during meetings. The intern will also be expected to perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall objectives of the APAC RSO.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree program in a relevant field such as aviation, airport management, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, computer science, or data science. Applicants from countries with different educational structures should have completed at least four years of full-time university studies towards a degree. The position requires strong analytical and research skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a graduate degree or enrollment in a graduate program related to aviation or engineering. Candidates should have a solid understanding of air traffic management principles and practices, as well as relevant technical knowledge in their field of study. Those pursuing studies in countries without a clear division between undergraduate and graduate education should have completed a minimum of four years of full-time studies at a recognized institution.

Experience:
Some experience in airport regulatory authority, airspace management, or engineering is desirable for this position. While extensive professional experience is not required, familiarity with the aviation industry and its regulatory frameworks will be beneficial. The internship is aimed at individuals who are looking to gain practical experience and enhance their understanding of air traffic management.

Languages:
Fluency in English is essential, with strong reading, writing, and speaking abilities required. A working knowledge of a second language from the Organization's languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable but not mandatory. This linguistic capability will enhance the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to international discussions.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and all associated costs, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses, must be covered by the intern. The internship duration is six months, with the possibility of renewal based on organizational needs. Interns are expected to work full-time, five days a week, and are not permitted to engage in any other employment during the internship period. Additionally, interns will not be eligible for employment within ICAO for six months following the completion of their internship.
