Job Overview:

The internship is expected to last for a duration of 4 months, contingent upon the needs of the office. Interns will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Spanish Unit, Mariana Irisarri, and will engage in daily tasks that may include translation, editing, and reference work related to ECLAC documents. The specific responsibilities assigned to the intern will vary based on their background and the internship period, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with the intern's skills and interests.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will participate in the daily operations of the Spanish Unit and may also assist the Terminology and Reference Unit as needed. Responsibilities may include:
  • Translating ECLAC documents from Spanish to English and vice versa.
  • Editing documents to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to ECLAC standards.
  • Conducting reference work to support the documentation process.
  • Collaborating with team members on various projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Engaging in research activities related to ECLAC's mission and objectives.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Participating in meetings and contributing to discussions regarding document production and terminology.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Applicants must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate at a later stage. Studies in translation, editing, linguistics, or related fields are highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. Experience:
