Job Overview:
The Global Coordinator for the Making Migration Safe for Women programme will be responsible for managing and implementing a global initiative aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of migrant women. This role involves overseeing the technical implementation of the programme, preparing annual work plans and budgets, and ensuring that the programme aligns with UN Women’s broader goals of gender equality and women's empowerment. The coordinator will work closely with national partners to enhance their capacity and provide technical assistance, ensuring that gender-responsive policies are developed and implemented in the context of migration. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage a diverse team and to engage with various stakeholders, including donors and civil society organizations. The Global Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the programme's progress, ensuring that results-based management tools are effectively utilized to track outcomes and impacts. This role is critical in advocating for the rights of migrant women and ensuring that their voices are heard in policy dialogues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall implementation of the Making Migration Safe for Women (MMSfW) programme, including preparing annual work plans and budgets, and ensuring their effective execution.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity development to programme partners, building relationships and responding to challenges as they arise.
  • Oversee the monitoring and reporting processes for the MMSfW programme, ensuring that all activities and finances are tracked using results-based management tools.
  • Manage the financial resources of the programme, including budget oversight and financial reporting.
  • Build partnerships and develop resource mobilization strategies to secure funding and support for the programme.
  • Lead advocacy efforts and knowledge-building initiatives related to gender and migration, representing UN Women in relevant meetings and dialogues.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the efficient functioning of the office and the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of gender issues, particularly in the context of migration. They should have proven experience in programme management, including planning, implementation, and monitoring. Strong negotiation and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including government representatives, donors, and civil society organizations. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, with a track record of advocating for women's rights.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in social sciences, international relations, gender studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management, gender analysis, or migration studies would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, particularly in the areas of gender equality, women's empowerment, and migration. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of other UN languages, particularly French or Spanish, is considered an asset.
