Job Overview: The National Consultant - Facilitator for the 2025 UNDP Lesotho Staff Retreat will play a crucial role in planning and executing the staff retreat, which is designed to foster team building, strategic planning, and reflection among UNDP staff in Lesotho. The consultant will be responsible for creating an engaging and productive environment that encourages open communication and collaboration among participants. This position requires a deep understanding of UNDP's mission and values, as well as the ability to facilitate discussions that align with the organization's strategic objectives. The consultant will work closely with UNDP management to develop the agenda, identify key topics for discussion, and ensure that the retreat meets its intended goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with UNDP management to design the retreat agenda, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Facilitate discussions and activities during the retreat, promoting active participation and engagement from all staff members.
Create a safe and inclusive environment for open dialogue and sharing of ideas.
Develop and distribute pre-retreat materials to participants to prepare them for discussions.
Gather feedback from participants during and after the retreat to assess the effectiveness of the sessions and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare a comprehensive report summarizing the outcomes of the retreat, including key takeaways and recommendations for future staff engagement activities.
Ensure that all logistical arrangements for the retreat are in place, including venue selection, catering, and materials needed for activities.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in facilitating workshops, retreats, or similar events, preferably within the UN system or international organizations.
Strong understanding of UNDP's mission, values, and operational framework.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of people.
Demonstrated ability to manage group dynamics and foster a collaborative environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related discipline. Additional certifications in facilitation, coaching, or training will be considered an asset.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in facilitation, training, or organizational development, with a focus on team building and strategic planning. Experience working with UN agencies or similar international organizations is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Sesotho or other local languages would be an advantage, as it would facilitate better communication with local staff and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The assignment is expected to last for a period of 3 weeks. This is a consultancy position, and the consultant will be contracted as an individual contractor. The consultant is expected to work full-time during the retreat and may need to engage in preparatory work prior to the event. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the UNDP's established rates for individual contractors.
