Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position in the Chief Digital Office (CDO) at UNDP is designed for motivated individuals who are eager to support the organization's digital transformation initiatives. Interns will have the opportunity to work on various projects related to digital ecosystems, capacity building, and the implementation of the UNDP Digital Strategy 2022-202
  • The role involves contributing to the development of inclusive digital strategies, supporting country offices in their digital readiness assessments, and assisting in the management of digital products and tools. Interns will also engage in research, knowledge management, and advocacy efforts to promote digital inclusion and ethical technology practices. This position is flexible in terms of start date and offers the possibility of part-time or full-time engagement, allowing interns to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and impactful environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the shaping of local digital ecosystems to ensure a rights-based and inclusive approach to digital development.
  • Assisting in the implementation of equitable and secure digital public infrastructure.
  • Conducting primary research and content reviews on digital topics such as inclusive connectivity and ethical technology.
  • Coordinating internal thought leadership efforts and providing substantive inputs.
  • Developing content for social media, blogs, and briefing notes in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Supporting country offices in assessing digital and AI readiness and developing national data strategies.
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of digital capacity-building resources.
  • Assisting in the management and coordination of UNDP's digital guides webpage.
  • Supporting the Chief Digital Officer with strategic management and drafting of speeches and briefs. 1
  • Analyzing the progress of UNDP's Digital Strategy implementation and proposing improvements. 1
  • Assisting in operations-related tasks, including tracking progress and organizing events. 1
  • Researching potential new partners and supporting strategic communications and outreach efforts. 1
  • Supporting the design and management of digital products and tools, including user testing and implementation. 1
  • Contributing to change management initiatives and facilitating knowledge exchange within UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (undergraduate; minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a university degree (first university degree, or second university degree or equivalent, or higher) and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Additionally, interest or experience in digital transformation, data governance, or AI is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a university degree program. Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields related to digital technology, development studies, public policy, or a related area. The internship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates who meet the specified criteria.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory, candidates are encouraged to have some familiarity with digital transformation initiatives, data governance, or related fields. Experience in research, project management, or communications can be beneficial. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and learning opportunities for individuals looking to develop their skills in a global development context.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNDP's work in various countries, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is offered on a part-time or full-time basis, with flexible start dates. Interns will receive a monthly stipend, which varies depending on the duty location. The stipend will be prorated for part-time arrangements. Interns are responsible for their own expenses related to the internship, including health insurance and any other costs incurred. UNDP does not cover costs arising from accidents or illnesses during the internship. Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
