Job Overview: The Content Development and Fact-checking on Child Rights and Business Consultant position is integral to UNICEF's mission of guiding responsible business conduct concerning children's rights. The consultant will engage in thorough technical reviews and refinements of written materials, ensuring accurate representation of sources and robust referencing. The role encompasses professional editing and writing, focusing on the presentation of materials for various audiences. The consultant will work closely with UNICEF’s Business Engagement and Child Rights Team to develop knowledge and guidance for stakeholders, including companies and governments, to address business impacts on children's rights. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a range of deliverables, including:
Conducting thorough fact-checking and content reviews of written materials related to child rights and business, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Editing and restructuring documents for public dissemination, including research summaries, toolkits, and case studies.
Collaborating with the Business Engagement and Child Rights Team to develop industry toolkits and guidance on child rights and responsible business conduct.
Producing thought leadership pieces based on organizational reports and data.
Ensuring all materials are accessible to diverse audiences, including policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Meeting deadlines for deliverables, including reports and toolkits, with a focus on quality and adherence to UNICEF's standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of work experience in professional editing or copy editing within the fields of international development, particularly focusing on child rights and responsible business practices. Strong fact-checking skills are essential, and previous experience with UNICEF publications is preferred. The consultant should demonstrate expertise in technical writing and editing, with a proven track record of producing high-quality written materials for diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in English, Culture, Society, or related Social Science Studies is required for this position. Advanced degrees or additional certifications in relevant fields may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, particularly in professional editing and copy editing within the context of international development. Experience in child rights, responsible business practices, and familiarity with UNICEF's work will be highly regarded. Candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating their editing and writing capabilities in technical fields.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNICEF's global operations, would be considered an asset but is not required.
