Job Overview:
The position involves providing technical assistance and capacity development across various UNICEF programmatic sectors, with a strong emphasis on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Selected experts and trainers will be expected to contribute to the realization of children's rights in Ukraine, particularly in areas such as child protection, education, health and nutrition, social protection, and WASH. The role requires designing and delivering capacity development workshops, providing technical guidance in program development, and conducting assessments and evaluations to ensure gender equality is integrated into project designs. The consultants will also engage in advocacy efforts and provide expertise on child rights and gender equality, aligning with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the Gender Strategy for Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deliver capacity development workshops and training sessions for government counterparts, NGOs, and UNICEF staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in program development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Conduct assessments, evaluations, and analyses of program activities, ensuring the integration of gender equality in project design and execution.
  • Offer expertise on policy development and strategic planning from a gender perspective, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Engage in advocacy and provide technical expertise on child rights and gender equality.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to promote gender-responsive budgeting and planning.
  • Analyze data on child rights violations with a focus on gender disparities and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Facilitate community outreach and engagement strategies to promote gender equality and positive masculinity.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of gender-responsive interventions across various sectors.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise and a track record of at least 5 years of relevant work experience in gender equality and child rights.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering capacity development activities for diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge of international and national standards on gender equality and women’s rights.
  • In-depth understanding of the Ukrainian context, particularly the impact of the ongoing crisis on children, women, and families.
  • Strong commitment to UNICEF's core principles, child rights, and gender equality.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong drive for results and the capacity to work independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and excellent communication skills.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Gender Studies or related fields, with specialization in any of the thematic areas of expertise listed in the call. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the respective field is required, with a proven track record in promoting gender equality and designing capacity development activities. Experience in the Ukrainian context and understanding the impact of crises on vulnerable populations is essential.

Languages:
Proficiency in Ukrainian (C2 level) is mandatory, while proficiency in English is considered an advantage.
