Job Overview: The Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the implementation of infrastructural projects in both urban and rural settings, focusing on water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and energy-related construction. This role involves overseeing the planning, design, and supervision of Shelter and Settlement and WASH activities carried out by NRC. The primary objective of this position is to ensure that all project activities related to the repair and rehabilitation of buildings, provision of WASH systems, and energy-efficient solutions are executed in accordance with NRC standards, national regulations, and donor requirements. The coordinator will manage a team, set clear objectives, and monitor performance while ensuring compliance with NRC's Shelter and Settlement strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator include direct management of the Shelter/WASH team, ensuring compliance with NRC strategies and guidelines, and contributing to the development of core competency strategies. The coordinator will manage and implement a portfolio of Shelter/WASH projects, including activities, budgets, and documentation, while ensuring high technical quality and regular reporting to the Shelter/WASH Project Manager. Specific responsibilities include coordinating technical and community need assessments, developing technical guidance, ensuring community participation, providing progress reports, and liaising with local authorities and stakeholders. The coordinator will also document all activities, cooperate with other departments for integrated program planning, advocate for NRC activities, and assist with drafting reports and proposals as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator position must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience in construction works and/or shelter/WASH programming. They should have technical knowledge specific to Shelter and/or WASH, ideally within humanitarian programs, and experience in people management. Documented technical competencies and results related to the position's responsibilities are essential. Additionally, candidates should have a good working knowledge of the international humanitarian sector, including the UN cluster system, and possess excellent interpersonal and networking skills. The ability to work under pressure, independently, and with limited supervision is crucial, along with a strong understanding of humanitarian compliance and accountability to donors and affected populations.
