Job Overview:
The position of Consultant in Youth, Employability, and the Private Sector involves working closely with UNICEF to develop strategies and programs that enhance youth employability and foster partnerships with the private sector. The consultant will be expected to analyze current trends in youth employment, identify barriers to employment for young people, and propose innovative solutions that align with UNICEF's mission. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, to create impactful initiatives that support youth development and employment opportunities. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these initiatives, ensuring they meet the needs of the target population and contribute to the overall goals of UNICEF.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive research on youth employment trends and challenges in El Salvador.
  • Develop and propose innovative strategies to enhance youth employability.
  • Collaborate with private sector partners to create job opportunities for young people.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for youth on employability skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of programs and initiatives on youth employment.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Engage with government agencies and NGOs to align efforts and share best practices.
  • Advocate for policies that support youth employment and development.
  • Ensure compliance with UNICEF's standards and principles, particularly regarding child protection and safeguarding.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in youth development, employability programs, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data related to youth employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the private sector's role in youth employment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values is preferred.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, economics, education, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage.

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience in youth development, employability programs, or consultancy roles. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is considered an asset and may be beneficial for communication with international stakeholders.

The consultancy position is not considered a staff member under UN regulations and does not entitle the consultant to benefits such as leave or health insurance coverage. The consultant is responsible for their tax obligations and must ensure that their visa and health insurance are valid throughout the contract period. Selected candidates must confirm their full vaccination status against COVID-19 with a WHO-approved vaccine before starting the assignment, unless they will work remotely and not interact directly with UNICEF's programs or communities.
