Job Overview:
The position of International Consultant FDI Project Development and Regional FDI Strategy involves providing technical expertise and strategic support to enhance investment readiness and promote regional cooperation in green transition sectors. The consultant will work on a project that aims to assist investment promotion agencies in Central Asia and Bhutan in developing investible opportunities. The role requires a deep understanding of foreign direct investment (FDI) dynamics, sustainable development practices, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to facilitate investment attraction and promotion. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the development of strategies that align with sustainable development goals and support the transition to greener economies in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise in FDI project development and regional investment strategies.
  • Support investment promotion agencies in Central Asia and Bhutan in identifying and developing investible opportunities.
  • Facilitate regional cooperation among member states to enhance investment promotion efforts.
  • Conduct assessments of current investment readiness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop strategic frameworks and action plans for investment attraction and promotion.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and international organizations, to foster collaboration and support for investment initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the project, ensuring alignment with sustainable development objectives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings to share knowledge and best practices in FDI and sustainable development.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in foreign direct investment (FDI) project development and regional investment strategies.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable development principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, and civil society.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working in the Asia-Pacific region is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the investment landscape in Central Asia and Bhutan is desirable.

Educational Background:
A master's degree or higher in economics, business administration, international relations, or a related field is required. Additional qualifications or certifications in investment promotion, sustainable development, or project management would be an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in foreign direct investment (FDI) project development, investment promotion, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a consulting capacity is preferred. Proven track record of successfully managing projects and delivering results in a timely manner is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region, such as Thai, Russian, or other local languages, would be considered an asset.

The assignment duration is up to 114 working days, spanning from March 2025 to October 202
  • The position is home-based with the possibility of travel to project sites as required. This is a consultancy role, and the consultant will be compensated based on the terms agreed upon in the contract. The recruitment process is open to both national and international candidates.
