Job Overview: The Associate Programme Officer (Knowledge Management) will play a crucial role in supporting the SIDS project, which is dedicated to sustainable development in Small Island Developing States, specifically targeting Comoros, Saint Lucia, and Vanuatu. This position involves designing and executing communication strategies that effectively disseminate information to stakeholders, developing knowledge management systems to capture best practices and lessons learned, and facilitating knowledge exchange among project teams. The officer will also coordinate with partners to gather project data, prepare reports, and create impactful communication materials that highlight project achievements. Additionally, the role includes organizing workshops and training sessions to enhance community engagement and local capacity, ensuring active participation from local communities and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Programme Officer include: assisting in the design and execution of communication strategies for the SIDS project; developing and managing knowledge management systems; facilitating knowledge exchange between project teams and stakeholders; coordinating with partners to gather project data; preparing impactful communication materials; organizing workshops, webinars, and training sessions; collaborating with local communities; preparing project summaries and communication materials; identifying media platforms for dissemination; monitoring project activities; contributing to progress reports; collaborating with the UNEP communication team; drafting legal instruments and terms of reference; maintaining internal databases; preparing periodic reports; participating in events organized by UNEP; and performing other assigned duties. Furthermore, the officer is expected to strengthen their understanding of volunteerism, contribute to local volunteerism efforts, reflect on their voluntary actions, and assist with the UNV Buddy Programme.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of knowledge management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. The candidate should possess a proactive approach to problem-solving and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic work environment. Familiarity with environmental issues, particularly in the context of sustainable development and climate change, is essential. Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant degree in environmental science, communications, social sciences, or a related field. Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in knowledge management, project management, or a related field.
