Job Overview:
The SWA– Partner Engagement Consultant will work under the supervision of the SWA Programme Specialist, focusing on partner engagement to enhance the participation of three key constituencies in the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) initiative. The consultant will develop strategic engagement plans, identify business cases for various constituencies, prepare briefing materials, and organize meetings to facilitate collaboration and information sharing. The role requires a commitment to improving the voice and contributions of underrepresented constituencies in SWA processes, particularly in high-level engagements and accountability mechanisms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop engagement plans for the Research and Learning, Private Sector, and Utilities and Regulators constituencies to enhance their participation in SWA objectives.
  • Identify business cases and SWA’s offers for these constituencies to maximize their contributions.
  • Prepare briefing materials for engagement in SWA flagship programs, including the Heads of State Initiatives and the Sector Ministers Meeting.
  • Organize quarterly meetings for the constituencies to facilitate information flow and increase participation.
  • Map SWA partners in priority countries and mobilize them for global and country-level engagement.
  • Conduct consultations and prepare documents outlining the contributions and strategic inputs of the constituencies.
  • Organize virtual meetings and dialogues to foster collaboration and cross-partner engagement.
  • Document and report on the outcomes of meetings and engagements, ensuring effective communication and follow-up with partners.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, foreign relations, or relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in high-level multilateral and multi-stakeholder platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent drafting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and results-driven, with a commitment to quality and productivity.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as environmental sciences, foreign relations, or other relevant disciplines. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the role and the context in which UNICEF operates.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in working with multilateral and multi-stakeholder platforms. Experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates should have a proven track record of engaging with national governments and strategic partners in governance and policy analysis.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered a strong asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
