Job Overview: The position involves providing technical assistance for mobilizing resources to non-timber forest product value chains aimed at the sustainable use of biodiversity in Cajamarca, Peru. The consultant will be expected to leverage their expertise in economic sciences, forestry, agronomy, social sciences, or related fields to enhance the financial viability of these value chains. The role requires a deep understanding of the local context and the ability to engage with producers and organizations to facilitate access to financing and improve their operational capacities. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders to identify opportunities for sustainable development and resource mobilization, ensuring that the initiatives align with broader environmental and economic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of existing non-timber forest product value chains in Cajamarca to identify gaps and opportunities for resource mobilization.
Develop strategies for engaging with producers and organizations to enhance their access to financing.
Lead workshops and training sessions aimed at building the capacity of local stakeholders in sustainable practices and financial management.
Collaborate with local and regional partners to design and implement financial solutions that support the scalability of agro-ecological practices.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies on the local economy and biodiversity conservation.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
Facilitate communication between producers and potential financing entities to foster partnerships.
Stay updated on trends and best practices in sustainable resource management and financing in the agricultural sector.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in economic sciences, forestry, agronomy, social sciences, administration, industrial engineering, or related fields.
A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in relevant fields, excluding overlapping experiences.
Proven track record of at least three (3) experiences leading initiatives related to value chains with agricultural producers or organizations.
Desirable experience in accessing financing and credits with a focus on sustainable utilization of productive chains.
Experience in mobilizing resources and designing or implementing financial solutions for the agricultural sector is highly desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economic sciences, forestry, agronomy, social sciences, administration, or industrial engineering. Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainable development or resource management may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in areas related to resource mobilization, value chain development, or sustainable agriculture. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in leading projects or initiatives that involve collaboration with producers or organizations in the agricultural sector, particularly in the Andean region.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires direct engagement with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is desirable but not required. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in the Cajamarca region would be an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract is for a duration of four (4) months and is classified as an individual contractor position. The role is full-time and requires the consultant to be based in Cajamarca, Peru. The position may involve travel within the region to engage with various stakeholders.
