Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Oversight & Business Process Improvement (OBPI) unit at UNDP-RDC is designed to provide students with practical experience in financial activities and document archiving. The intern will work under the authority of Oversight and Compliance specialists and directly under the supervision of the Audit Analyst. The primary focus will be on supporting financial activities and archiving tasks, with the possibility of expanding responsibilities to other relevant areas as deemed necessary. This internship is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment, contributing to the effective functioning of the OBPI unit while enhancing their skills and knowledge in finance and administration.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting financial activities, assisting with internal verification exercises (spot checks), analyzing and reconstructing accounting situations, justifying the effectiveness of account components, archiving evidence related to accounts, compiling data useful for external and internal audits, and supporting the archiving of documents within the OBPI unit. The intern will ensure that all documents are archived in the dedicated SharePoint, including received and sent correspondence, HACT assurance reports, country office spot check reports, contracts and agreements post-signature, and any other administrative documents related to OBPI.
Required Qualifications: Candidates applying for the UNDP internship program must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate program (master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as finance, accounting, auditing, or related disciplines; be in the final year of an undergraduate program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the same fields; or have obtained a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a degree in finance, accounting, auditing, or related fields. Candidates must demonstrate academic proficiency and relevance to the internship's focus areas, ensuring they possess the foundational knowledge necessary for the tasks they will undertake during their internship.
Experience: Relevant work experience, volunteer work, or internships related to administrative and financial activities at the national or international level is required. Familiarity with accounting management and auditing activities is essential. Previous knowledge or experience within the United Nations system is considered an asset, as it provides context and understanding of the organization's operations and standards.
Languages: Proficiency in speaking and writing French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, enhancing the intern's ability to engage with a broader range of documents and communications within the UNDP framework.
