Job Overview: The Communications Specialist position is situated within the Office of Communications (OCC) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. This role is pivotal in managing and creating internal communications content that supports the organization's mission. The incumbent will work independently, making decisions on work priorities and exercising initiative in addressing unprecedented cases. The position requires a strategic approach to internal communications, ensuring that all materials align with FAO's communication policies and corporate needs. The specialist will be responsible for drafting, editing, and designing various corporate communications aimed at internal audiences, as well as implementing and monitoring communication plans and strategies. The role also involves compiling and analyzing data on internal communications to produce reports on engagement and impact, enhancing brand visibility, and optimizing internal communication platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Specialist will undertake a variety of tasks, including researching and analyzing technical, social, economic, environmental, and institutional information to support communication efforts. Key responsibilities include drafting and designing corporate communications, implementing communication plans, compiling data on internal communications, developing media assets, coordinating content scheduling for internal platforms, supporting global staff events, and ensuring the functionality of intranet operations. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in communication, social science, journalism, political science, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in communication, intranet/web publishing, and/or design is required. Proficiency in English at a working knowledge level (C) is mandatory.
