Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Ministry of Education and Research (MER) and the National Institute for Educational Leadership (INEL) in Moldova by developing a framework of competence standards for mentors in the education sector. This position involves creating a comprehensive training program that aligns with these standards and equips mentors with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively guide and support their mentees. The consultant will conduct a thorough analysis of international mentoring practices and the national legislative framework in education, ensuring that the developed standards and training programs are relevant and effective. The consultant will also facilitate public discussions and consultations to gather feedback and ensure stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a desk review of international practices in mentoring within education, focusing on mentor profiles and competencies.
Analyze the national legislative framework related to education and mentoring in Moldova.
Develop and consult on the Competence Standards for Mentors, ensuring alignment with international best practices.
Create a Training Program for Mentors that includes competencies, learning outcomes, content units, teaching strategies, and evaluation methods.
Design a training course that supports the implementation of the Competence Standards, consisting of 96 academic hours, with a mix of direct contact and independent work.
Prepare and present a final report summarizing the findings and recommendations to INEL and UNICEF.
Collaborate closely with MER, INEL, and UNICEF throughout the consultancy to ensure all deliverables meet expectations and timelines.
Required Qualifications:
A certified mentorship qualification with a university degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in training, organization, and management of professional activities in the education sector.
Strong management and analytical skills, with a requirement to provide examples of previous work related to training organization.
Relevant experience working with the Government of Moldova, UNICEF, or other UN agencies is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and maintain high standards of communication and cooperation.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a relevant domain that supports the consultancy's objectives. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the education system and the specific needs of mentors in Moldova.
Experience: The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in the education sector, particularly in training and mentorship. Candidates should have a proven track record of organizing and managing professional development activities, demonstrating their capability to design and implement effective training programs.
