Job Overview:
The position is located within the Procurement and Partnerships Unit of the Corporate Services Division at UNEP in Nairobi. The incumbent will support the implementation of the UNEP Partnership Policy and Procedures, facilitate the development of the UNEP Partner Portal, and assist the Partnerships Committee. The role requires collaboration with various UN bodies and stakeholders to enhance knowledge sharing and implement effective partnership strategies. The officer will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating partnerships, particularly with private sector entities, and will utilize data analysis to inform decision-making and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Procurement and Partnerships Unit Officer include supporting the implementation of UNEP's Partnership Policy, facilitating the development of the UNEP Partner Portal, and providing guidance to the Partnerships Committee. The officer will liaise with other UN bodies to enhance inter-agency coordination, monitor procurement by implementing partners, and support the UNEP Action Plan for Future Proofing Project Delivery. Responsibilities also include conducting risk assessments for partnerships, analyzing data to identify trends, and providing insights through various data visualization methods to support planning and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of organizational policy formulation, project administration, and implementation. They should demonstrate analytical skills, the ability to conduct independent research, and effective communication skills. The role requires a commitment to gender perspectives and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Candidates should also be adept at planning and organizing their work efficiently, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, law, international development, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is considered an advantage.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Experience in corporate policy formulation and implementation, as well as managing partnerships, is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations or similar organizations is also preferred, along with at least two years of experience in data analytics or a related field.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is desirable. Fluency is defined as a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding, while knowledge is rated as 'confident' in two of the four areas.
