Job Overview: The Project Officer (Project Coordinator) will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty (GAAHP) Support Mechanism. This position is focused on project coordination and management, requiring the individual to conduct research, analyze technical issues, and provide project-related services that support the delivery of program projects, products, and services. The officer will be responsible for developing comprehensive work plans, monitoring project progress, and ensuring effective communication among stakeholders. The role demands a proactive approach to managing project objectives, tasks, and deadlines, while also promoting knowledge sharing and best practices at international meetings and conferences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and analyze technical-related issues on the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs/projects; assist in reviewing relevant documents and reports.
Produce a variety of technical information, data, statistics, and documents, as well as technical input for reports and web pages.
Provide technical support/analysis to various assessments, studies, and projects, and offer technical backstopping to field projects.
Collaborate in the development of improved/updated tools, systems, processes, and databases.
Oversee the updating of databases and web pages.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, lead working groups/teams, and collaborate with other divisions and agencies on work groups and committees.
Promote best practices and knowledge sharing at international meetings and conferences, influencing partners in stakeholder consultations.
Develop a comprehensive work plan for the Global Alliance Policy Basket support, including key milestones, deliverables, tasks, timelines, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with stakeholders such as Procurement Service, Legal Office, and Finance Division to ensure smooth execution of tender processes.

Monitor project progress against established plans, identifying deviations, risks, or obstacles.

Communicate proactively with project team members and stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of project objectives.

Coordinate and lead regular meetings, providing updates on project status and facilitating decision-making processes.

Act as a focal point for project-related communication, managing stakeholder expectations and addressing concerns promptly.

Prepare and present regular project status reports to the Director of the Secretariat and other Support Mechanism offices.
Five years of relevant experience in project or program management, administration, or a related area.
Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as business administration, public administration, social science, political science, international development, or international relations. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of project management and the socio-economic factors influencing hunger and poverty.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in project or program management, administration, or a related area. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing projects, demonstrating their ability to coordinate activities, manage resources, and achieve project objectives effectively.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a working knowledge (level C) required. Additionally, candidates must have intermediate proficiency (level B) in another official FAO language, which could include Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. This linguistic capability is crucial for effective communication within the international context of FAO's operations.
