Job Overview:
The ICT Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day implementation of ICT functions and responsibilities within the organization. This position is essential for ensuring the stable and smooth operation of ICT equipment and systems under the supervision of the ICT Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing ICT registries, maintaining accurate records of assets and licenses, and ensuring compliance with global NRC ICT policies. The role requires proactive communication with the line manager regarding upcoming expirations of licenses and airtime, as well as facilitating timely procurement requests. The ICT Assistant will also be tasked with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining network connections, and conducting regular check-ups of IT equipment across various NRC offices. This position demands a commitment to high standards of service delivery and the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to global NRC ICT policies and procedures by all users.
  • Manage and maintain precise ICT registries, including asset and license registries.
  • Keep information current, including license keys, expiration dates, and airtime.
  • Notify the line manager of upcoming expirations and facilitate procurement requests.
  • Update the Asset List and other registries, providing tags for newly purchased assets.
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing ICT assets.
  • Install and maintain protection software and services, such as anti-virus software and firewalls.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of ICT equipment, including laptops, desktops, printers, and network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems promptly. 1
  • Ensure stable functioning of LAN and Internet connections in the office and rented premises. 1
  • Conduct regular visits and check-ups of IT equipment in various NRC offices. 1
  • Report losses, damages, or discrepancies immediately to the Line Manager. 1
  • Report potential fraud cases to the Line Manager without delay.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in ICT areas, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Knowledge of programming skills is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Bangla, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to stay updated with modern ICT trends.
  • Experience with Office365/Microsoft SharePoint is an advantage.
  • Stress resistance and the ability to work extended or non-core business hours as required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation in technical skills and knowledge essential for effective performance in the ICT Assistant role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in ICT-related areas, particularly within a humanitarian or recovery context. This experience is crucial for understanding the unique challenges and demands of working in such environments and for effectively managing ICT functions.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position, both in verbal and written forms. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The duty station for this position is Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, with a contract duration of 12 months. The role may involve approximately 20% travel. The position is classified as Grade 03 in NRC’s Salary Scale, which includes a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
