Job Overview: The Information Management Officer position at NRC involves managing and analyzing data related to the organization's humanitarian efforts. The role is crucial for ensuring that accurate and timely information is available to support decision-making processes and improve the effectiveness of aid delivery. The officer will be responsible for collecting, processing, and disseminating information, as well as developing and maintaining information management systems. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying information needs and ensuring that data is used effectively to inform program planning and implementation. The officer will work closely with various teams within NRC to ensure that information is shared appropriately and that all stakeholders are kept informed of developments in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect, analyze, and manage data related to NRC's operations in Jabel Marra.
Develop and maintain information management systems to support data collection and reporting.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by implementing quality control measures.
Collaborate with program teams to identify information needs and provide relevant data to support decision-making.
Prepare reports and presentations based on data analysis to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Train staff on data collection methods and the use of information management tools.
Ensure compliance with NRC's safeguarding policies and procedures in all information management activities.
Participate in coordination meetings with other humanitarian organizations to share information and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Proficiency in data management software and tools, such as Excel, Access, or similar applications.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of humanitarian principles and practices is an advantage.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in information management, data science, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field is required. Experience working in a humanitarian context or with NGOs is highly desirable. Familiarity with the specific challenges and needs of displaced populations is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities. Additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and based in Jabel Marra, Sudan. The contract duration will be determined based on the needs of the organization and the availability of funding.
